Alum Aftershave Block

  • Alum Aftershave Block

The potassium alum block is the original antiseptic aftershave, which contains mineral salts that were originally used by the ancient Egyptians more than four thousand years ago for its healing and antiseptic properties. These properties naturally help limit the spread of bacteria, stop irritation and bleeding and help reduce ingrown hairs and razor burn. They can also be used as a natural deodorant, or as a part of a skin care routine to reduce acne.

How To:
Using cold water, wet skin and block before gently rubbing block over freshly shaven area. Let the residue sit on the skin for 15-20 seconds, and rinse again with cold water. Pat skin dry and apply a moisturizer.

Some amount of tingling, stinging, or even burning is normal when using an alum block after shaving. This happens because of the antiseptic and astringent properties of the crystals in the alum block.

After use, dry fully or leave it on a safe surface to dry out completely before storage.
